Ans WOLDRINGH (Bussum 1926 - ?? 2006)
Ans Woldringh was driven by an immense admiration for nature. Her legacy consists of more than 1200 paintings - plant motifs and almost surreal landscapes.
During her lifetime, Woldringh found it difficult to part with her work. For a long time her father acted as manager and organized participation in exhibitions, such as the one-man exhibitions in the Van Reekum Museum in Apeldoorn (1969) and the Stedelijk Museum in Zutphen (1970).
From 1970 the artist settled in a restored farmhouse with her own exhibition space 'De Korenaar'. She held a permanent exhibition of paintings, tapestries and scarves.
Woldringh was a member of the Arti et Industriae in The Hague and of the Edese Kunstkring. The vast majority of her works have been managed by the Hoge Veluwe / Kröller Muller National Park for quite some time.
Woldringh mastered a new technique: on the smooth, prepared surface she rubbed a wide track in transparent paint mixed with a lot of binding agent. The dark contours and the broad luminous sweeps created spatial almost surreal landscapes. Many plant motifs, fanning out surfaces from a point, also lent themselves to this technique.
