Education: Anton Buytendijk studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. After his studies, Buytendijk taught at the Minerva art academy in Groningen. Lives and works in Amsterdam
Anton Buytendijk has made many landscapes in different techniques: watercolours, etchings and lithographs and oil on canvas. After his education, Buytendijk returned to Groningen and joined De Ploeg. Here further development took place in his landscapes. When the war was over, Anton Buytendijk returned to Amsterdam. In the 1950s / 1960s he developed more and more as an abstract landscape painter, with influences from artists such as Emil Nolde and William Turner. Many of Buytendijk's abstract works originated in Zuid? France. Anton Buytendijk was chairman of the Dutch Circle of Illustrators and a member of, among others, the Nederlandse Aquarellistenkring and Arti et Amicitiae.
