Anton HEYBOER (Sabang 1924 - Den Ilp 2005)

Education: Anton receives a technical training as a mechanical engineer and also learns welding and bench work. He also becomes a driller. Lives and works in the Netherlands
The experiences Anton Heyboer has gained in the working kamo have been of great significance for the development of his artistry. Heyboer teaches himself to etch and makes shameless kitsch in order to put food on the table. When the war is over, he leaves his parental home and goes to Drenthe, lives for a few months in the south of France and in 1951 is locked up in the psychiatric hospital in Santpoort. He stays there for a few months. Anton Heyboer's turbulent lifestyle is reflected in a number of marriages. In 1961 he moved to a farm in Den Ilp, and from that moment on, Heyboer's fame only grew. Over the years, the graphic artist's number of brides rises to five: Petra, Lotti, Joke, Marike and Maria, in random wedding order. The production of art continues to increase, until Anton Heyboer dies in his sleep in 2005.
