Painter, graphic artist, ceramist.
Education: Cees Kortlang attended the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1946 to 1952.
After completing his education, Cees Kortlang moved to Amsterdam, where he moved into a studio home in a neighborhood where many other artists also lived. Although his first art was figurative, Kortlang started working abstractly from 1958. Even at the beginning of his career, Kortlang received positive critical acclaim, and in 1961 he was a participant in the Liga Nieuwe Beelden exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. From 1966, color took over from black in his work.
