Corneille took courses at the Amsterdam Academy but was mainly self-taught.
Biography
Guillaume Cornelis Beverloo, known as Corneille was born to Dutch parents in Liège. He was one of the founders and also one of the main representatives of the Cobra movement. Corneille was extremely productive during his career, resulting in an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphics. Corneille worked abstractly, but from around 1960 he works figuratively. Well-known motifs are birds, women, and flowers.
Exhibitions and prizes
Many corporate, private and museum collections own work by Corneille. In addition, his oeuvre is also represented in various museums, including the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen.
Corneille was an important and leading artist whose work appeared in more than 1000 exhibitions and exhibitions at home and abroad, and of which dozens were personal exhibitions.
