Dick van Wijk (Leiden, 1943) is a Dutch sculptor. He studied sculpture at the City Academy and the Jan van Eyck academy in Maastricht.
Dick van Wijk's work bears witness to the quest to combine geometric and organic forms. In the artist's oeuvre, the human body forms the basis of his concept. The circular shape is the symbol of continuity and development.
These attributes, together with different animal shapes, give Van Wijk a broad medium to work with. The materialization of the quest can be expressed in bronze, steel, marble, bluestone and glass. In doing so, the merging of the different materials represents a kind of irony and dynamism.
The municipal commissions of the artist Dick van Wijk can be found in the Limburg province and far beyond. He currently lives in Roermond.
