Dominique Chan was educated at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
Lives and works in Amsterdam.
Dominique Chan's work clearly shows traces of his fascination with Chinese culture. A journey through China and the study of the language and culture of that country have strongly influenced Chan, also in his recent compositions. The paintings and works on paper appeal because of the directness of the use of color and form. Chan mixes an expressive style of painting with elements borrowed from Eastern culture. He works in the tradition of abstract expressionism, spontaneous and free, fierce and tender, converting his feelings into color and form. Painting on an empty background is for Chan to scan his memory in search of new images.
