Education:

Gerti Bierenbroodspot studied at the Amsterdam School of the Arts from 1957-1961. She then continued her education at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.

Lives and works in Amsterdam

Gerti Bierenbroodspot is a versatile artist, uses many different materials and masters different disciplines. The central theme in her work can be described as a labyrinth of the time in which we wander. An important source of inspiration for Bierenbroodspot is classical antiquity, which is why she has traveled extensively through the Middle East and worked locally there. Through these travels she has seen many excavations, which are part of her work, as well as the colors and materials that Gerti Bierenbroodspot uses for this. Much of Bierenbroodspot's work, especially her paintings, features parts of ancient temples and other structures.

Exhibitions and prizes:

Gerti Bierenbroodspot was appointed Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion in 1999.

She has had many exhibitions in the Netherlands and beyond in Amman, Beirut, New York
