Education:
Hannes Postma was educated at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam and lives and works in Amsterdam.
Visual artist Hannes Postma gained international fame in the 1960s with his series of large color etchings. Between 1970 and 1978 he made his 'sea paintings'. This led to the establishment of the Hoek van Hollandse School in 1973. He formed a Dadaist group with a few former students of the Rotterdam academy whose aim was to realize artistic projects in which the influence of the master or the influence of art history is unmasked. The period of sea painting came to an end in 1978 and from that moment on he found a natural connection with the New Figuration.
