Ilona Buttstedt was born in Amsterdam in 1950.
Education:
Buttstedt studied painting, lithography and monumental design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht.
She lives and works in Ameide (South Holland).
Lon Buttstedt takes inspiration from her immediate environment; her paintings often have their origin in traces of human presence. In her work, those traces are not merged into a coherent image, but are presented as separate elements. A recurring theme in Buttstedt's work is impermanence; that is why there are also motifs from nature in it.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Besides several times in various Dutch cities, Buttstedt's work has been exhibited in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and New York.
