In 1959 Mats Jonassen started working at Målerås glassworks as an engraver apprentice. He subsequently collaborated with various Swedish glass designers. Jonasson's style is characterized by incorporating elements from nature into his sculptures and objects in a realistic-looking way. In the 1980s, Jonasson and fifteen of his craftsmen took over Målerås from Kosta. Since then, the glassworks' success has increased with their relief glass designs.
