Education
Molenkamp was educated at the predecessor of the Tilburg Academy of Fine Arts and then went from 1949 to 1953 to the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Biography
After his training in figure painting in Antwerp, Nico Molenkamp returned to Tilburg, where he became a free painting teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts until 1982. He mainly painted abstract animal and human figures and was inspired by circus, theater and fairgrounds. He often uses striking, tonal color combinations, which sometimes give a sculptural appearance. Molenkamp has made a number of study trips, including to Italy, Baghdad and Africa. He was a member of several artists' associations, including the New Images League.

Nico Molenkamp has won several prizes, including the Willink van Collen Prize (in 1950) and the Europe Prize for Painting.
