Education:
Bastiaanssen studied from 1982 to 1987 at the St. Joost Academy in Breda.
Lives and works in Rotterdam.
Bastiaansen's work is characterized by the black dog; these occur both as wooden sculptures and in his flat work. In his work, simple and colorful, Bastiaanssen ridicules contemporary civic culture. With 'Bastiaanssen International Rescue', under which he has started various art projects, the artist tries to save the world – in particular the art world. He wants to question art that is difficult to understand, while visual quality also seems absent.
