Ruth BROUWER (Antwerp 1930)

Sculptor, medalist and draftsman.

From 1953 she lives and works in Amsterdam. Education: Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Amsterdam). Student of Vincent Pieter Semeyn Esser, among others. She made study trips to Scandinavia, Italy and France.

Ruth Brouwer mainly made sculptures and sculptures of female figures, children and cats, but also made drawings (sketches). She worked with bronze, stone and wood. There are 3 bronze statues of her in the National Collection.

Ruth Brouwer was awarded the 'Prix de Rome' (2nd prize for sculpture) in 1959 and is mentioned in 'Scheen' (1969-1970) and 'Jacobs' (1993).
