Theo NIERMEIJER (Amsterdam 1940 - Amsterdam 2005)
Sculptor, painter, graphic artist, architect.
Education: Niermeijer was educated at the Institute for Applied Arts Education in Amsterdam and at the National Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. In Warsaw he went to art school. Self-taught as a sculptor in Niermeijer. Niermeijer lived and worked in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Warsaw and Marrakech.
Niermeijer has traveled extensively, to North and South America, North Africa and Asia: he incorporated his experiences into his art. He made extensive use of iron, steel, car scrap and (iron) waste. He called himself the archaeologist of the scrap heap.
