Toon Koster1913-1989_Direction does not exist_ and everything is repetition , Toon Koster replied when asked to which movement he belonged and which subjects he preferred to paint. Educated at the academy in Rotterdam, Koster developed into a versatile artist: he painted, was a graphic artist, craftsman and enameller, and also made important murals. In an impressionistic way he painted landscapes, village and city views, portraits and still lifes. The scenes are often painted in dark earth colors and with broad, coarse brushstrokes, creating a charged atmosphere. Koster was a member of the Dutch Federation of Visual Artists. He exhibited at home and abroad and is represented with work at institutions, companies and private individuals.
