Walter van OEL (The Hague, 1942) studies fashion at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Here he passes the artistic subjects with particularly high marks.

His works are typified by the sacred appearance and Eastern elements. They radiate tranquility, are in balance and built up of layers. Van Oel thus suggests depth. With his poetic abstraction he wants to express with his brushes the innermost of man, that which moves us. By means of fragments, signs, symbols and hints, he tries to take the viewer into a different experience. It is, as it were, a new language for universal and timeless themes.

In 2008 Van Oel was awarded the bronze medal for his complete oeuvre by the Academie International des Arts et des Lettres de Paris.
