Willem STEELINK (JR.) (Amsterdam 1856 - Voorburg 1928)
After Willem Steelink Jr. started as a student of his father, he studied in Amsterdam and Antwerp. At the beginning of his career he mainly made portraits and historical scenes as he had learned from his father. Later he moved to Laren and was influenced by the Larensche School, including Anton Mauve. From then on he mainly painted landscapes and developed his own style. Besides paintings, Willem Steelink Jr. also graphic work and etching. Later on he also made many illustrations for books and children's books and he even illustrated the New Testament in Sudanese. Collectors from all over Europe bought the work of Willem Steelink Jr. The artist was also a member of Arti et Amicitae in Amsterdam. His work can be seen in the municipal museum in The Hague, among others.
