-Provenance: The painting was owned by the Utrecht writer and artist Dirkje Kuik. The painting was purchased at Galerie Mokum in Amsterdam.
Condition: In good condition with light wear spots. The wooden frame has worn spots.

Cornelis Jan Doolaard (Poortugaal, September 17, 1944 - Ippecourt, France, February 18, 2018), painter and draftsman.
-Education: Academy of Visual Arts Rotterdam (1961-1963).
In the late 1960s, Cornelis Doolaard was part of the 'Young Dutch Realists', including Barend Blankert, Tobias Baanders, Christ van Geest, Koosje van Keulen, Clary Mastenbroek and Wout Müller.
Cornelis Doolaard's work is described as refined and poetic and is characterized by a certain mystical melancholy. He was fascinated by the imperfection of man, which he managed to depict in a very intimate and vulnerable way.
His works are both extremely confrontational and intriguing.
