Landscapes represent an important part of my work. Started in a realistic representation, there is now only talk of landscape forms in an abstract expressionist style. Many of these landscapes have the Northern area as a frame of reference, also known as Wadden Sea. The dynamics of both the landscape and the portrait are my main motivation for painting or shaping. Nowhere is the landscape so connected to water, land and air as in the Northern area. The apparent certainty of realism is imprisoned in the abstraction. The portrait has another dimension for me. Is the landscape separate from any interfaces with people. For me, the portrait is the reflection of society. The inseparable image of engagement, in whatever form. Abstraction and reality are very close to each other in the portrait.
