Artist: Christiaan Karel Appel (25 April 1921 - 3 May 2006) - Dutch painter, sculptor, and poet. He started painting very young and studied at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He was one of the founders of the avant-garde movement CoBrA (Copenhagen (Co), Brussels (Br), Amsterdam (A)) active from 1948 to 1951.
Size (aprox.): 113 x 90 cm incl. frame and passe-partout; litho 76 x 56 cm
Hand-signed EA (bottom left) and Appel (bottom right)EA (épreuve d'artiste) or Artist Proof are proofs that are not a part of the numbered edition and are usually kept by the artist as a record of the print’s development (personal collection or special artist’s proof edition). They did not differ in any way from the other, numbered copies. Apart from the épreuve d'artiste, 100 copies were made.
