In 1969 brachten John Lennon en Yoko Ono de laatste week van hun huwelijksreis door in Amsterdam. Als protest tegen de oorlog in Vietnam kwamen zij die week niet uit hun hotelkamer in het Hilton Hotel. Nico Koster, van 1963 tot 1988 werkzaam voor de Telegraaf, was een van de fotografen die tijdens de 'Bed-in' aanwezig mochten zijn. De Telegraaf plaatste destijds één van deze foto's, de rest van de negatieven werd 40 jaar lang verloren gewaand, tot de dochter van de fotograaf ze terugvond in een oude envelop.
Nico Koster (1940) is een veelzijdig fotograaf. Hij reisde met Corneille naar Cuba, vereeuwigde de Bed-in for Peace actie van John Lennon en Yoko Ono en was als fotojournalist getuige van dramatische gebeurtenissen zoals de trainkaping bij De Punt en de bezetting van het Indonesisch Consulaat in Amsterdam (1975). Foto's van die laatste gebeurtenis leverden hem in 1975 de tweede prijs op in de categorie Nieuws van World Press Photo. In 1983 won hij de Zilveren Camera.
