(Gouda 1945 - Hardenberg 1989)
In 1927, ceramist Frans Eikenboom produced pottery in Gouda. Together with his son, Peter Antonius, he founded the Plateelbakkerij Flora in 1945. In 1974 Flora was taken over by International Citrus Products and moved to Hardenberg. In order to continue to play in the market, Flora tried to make very diverse products. However, mass production led to products that were not original and artistic enough, which is why Flora started working with various artists in the 1980s.
From the 1960s to the 1980s, Flora was a leading player in the field of decorative and utility pottery. The products can be recognized by the abstract motifs. Well-known series are Lila, Tokyo, Rimini and Rumba . Moreover, the products were very affordable and were therefore often seen in interiors. In 1989 Flora was taken over by Royal Goedewaagen. In 1996 Goedewaagen stopped producing ceramics in the Flora style.
