Gerritsen's work is part of the collections of, among others, The Rijksmuseum, Museum Arnhem, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Dordrechts Museum. Oeuvre Ad Gerritsen (Arnhem, 1940 – Arnhem, 2015) has created an unimaginable amount of works of art. Paintings in all formats, drawings, graphics, ceramics and sculptures. Gerritsen was a beloved artist because of his stubborn visual language, which contained both humor and social points of discussion. Much of his work has already found its way to private collectors, corporate collections and museums. The artist was particularly interested in the bias with which people judge each other. He always explored the boundaries of human moral awareness and found his theme in wars, crimes and other absurd situations. He painted the many portraits of trauma victims or criminals in such a way that no distinction can be made between the two.
