Cor Noltee - Sawmill in Dordrecht (History piece)

Cor NOLTEE (The Hague 1903 - Dordrecht 1967) Noltee was a student at the Hague Academy of Visual Arts. After his studies, he traveled through the Netherlands as a painter and also worked in Bruges and Paris. Because he showed a kinship with Breitner in his subjects and style and painted many cityscapes in Dordrecht, he was sometimes called 'the Dordrecht Breinter'. Later, Cor Noltee increasingly developed his own style and his work became more clear and expressive in color. In his last years, Noltee developed his own expressionism, which constitutes a highlight in the painter's oeuvre.
