De schilder Flip Hamers was een bekend kunstenaar uit Kortenhoef. Hij schilderde, tekende en aquarelleerde o.a. landschappen, (kinder)portretten en zeegezichten.
Hij reisde in zijn leven de wereld af. Van Suriname tot Pakistan, van Egypte tot Malta. In Suriname leerde Hamers zijn latere vrouw kennen.
Als hij thuis was zocht hij zijn onderwerpen dichtbij huis: het Kortenhoefse polder- en plassengebied. De huisjes aan de Kortenhoefsedijk, een sloot met waterlelies of een stuk weiland, een stoel in zijn atelier, met erop een paar schoenen of een naaktmodel, of een in zijn tuin gevonden dode zanglijster.
Hamers trok veel met de Loosdrechtse schilder Dirk Smorenberg op. Na 1933 signeerde hij zijn werk met F. Hamers. Van de tijd daarvoor is een signatuur van hem bekend met hoge art-deco letters: Ph. Hamers.
Hamers ontving de Koninklijke Subsidie en was o.a. lid van de kunstenaars- vereniging Laren - Blaricum
