Henri Matchavariani (born 1939) is a French painter, calligrapher and illustrator of Georgian and Romanian descent. He has been art director in Paris and Milan. He has produced numerous illustrations for the press (Vogue) and posters, especially for Air France. He has worked closely with Helmut Newton on an advertising project. His art is guided by the elegance of the line and by an imaginative gesture of flight, inspired by the East. His calligraphy is in line with that of Christian Dotremont.
