Henk Dekker - Sweden the beautiful

The painter Henk Dekker (1897-1974) was born in The Hague and lived there most of his life. He became known for his impressionist style of sea and beach scenes, with fishermen and ships. He gained inspiration for this along the Dutch coast, but he also traveled along the Mediterranean Sea and along the coasts of Brittany, Belgium, England and Sweden. Henk Dekker received advice from HJ van der Weele and further developed himself. He lived and worked in The Hague, but has also made many trips abroad: in addition to England and Sweden, also to France and Morocco. In the 1930s his use of color changed and the bluish-gray tone that he was familiar with became predominant in his work. Dekker was a member of the Dutch art circle. (Info: Lexicon Pieter A.
