Description: This work is by the Dutch painter Herman Jozef Wijngaard. On the canvas (Oil paint) you can see sailing boats, ships and sloops on the water and the sun trying to penetrate through the clouds. On the horizon you can see a village with a church on the bank side. The work is in very good condition and has no visible damage (minor wear to the frame) and is signed at the bottom right. More information about the painter: Herman J. Wijngaard, born January 21, 1922 Amsterdam – died March 12, 2012. It became apparent from an early age that he was artistically gifted. It is therefore not surprising that he wanted to study art in Amsterdam at the Rijksnormalschool from 1938 to 1941.
His artistic achievements at school were quickly noticed and he therefore received private lessons from P. Twisker, teacher at the Amsterdam State Academy, to further perfect his technique. HJ Wijngaard is best known as a painter of the Dutch landscape.
In Nieuwkoop, where he lived for several years, he painted the lakes in an attractively unique way. When he moved to the area around the rivers, he was captivated by the vast river landscape.
He paints the environment and the light on the water in a beautiful way. Also striking are the exceptionally beautiful skies, which are so characteristic of Wijngaard.
