Beautiful sober and tranquil painting by Jacques Pijnenborg. Painted with a soft touch and in almost tonalist colors. Framed in a classic but understated frame. Comes from a private collection and obtained through an auction. Original purchase invoice is present.

Jacques Pijnenborg was self-taught and mainly painted the Brabant landscape, village views and interior scenes. He was a student of Herman Moerkerk in Den Bosch, Theo and Jan van Delft in Waalwijk, R. van der Pol and Albert Servaes. He was a proxy holder at a bank in Den Bosch, but after his retirement in Helvoirt in 1941, he devoted himself entirely to painting. Stated in the Pieter Scheen and the Mak van Waay.
