Ieder werk van Jan Henderikse is het prototype van een samengestelde gebeurtenis: metalen schijfjes dicht bij elkaar geschikt. De observatie confronteert ons door de aard en de schikking van het gekozen materiaal met een niet bestaand begrip: het identieke. Hoe meer overeenkomsten, hoe minder het oog in staat is om de verschillen te registreren. De gekozen munten hebben allemaal een eigen identiteit, maar licht en schaduw vallen over geen enkele munt gelijk. Dit representeert ook de manier waarop je als toeschouwer naar het werk van Henderikse kijkt: je kunt er nooit op één manier naar kijken, de ogen en het hoofd bewegen, net zoals het licht en de schaduw.
