Leentje Linders - Flying above the Clouds, part three - Sold

This is an image of the KLM DC2, the Uiver, which took part in the Melbourne Race in 1934. The aircraft is portrayed flying over Java. On January 31, 1984, this fact was commemorated with a flight in an old DC2 that traveled the same route once more to great public interest. The aircraft was then flown by a KLM crew consisting of captain Jan Plesman, grandson of Albert Plesman, flight engineer Ton Degenaars, flight engineer Bonne Pijpstra, and first officer Fred Schouten. At the time, this canvas was presented by KLM in Jakarta to the then Indonesian Minister of Tourism with the signatures of this crew on it. It hung in the Minister's reception room for many years.
