• This oil on canvas "young woman with a veil" made by the Russian social realist painter Nikolai M. Nikonov was painted in 1932. Signed and dated on the bottom right and on the back of the canvas. Is in good condition, but the canvas will have to be stretched again in due course. NOT framed.

Nikonov Nikolai Mitrofanovich (1899, Yaransk, the Viatka Region – 1975, Moscow). Honored Painter of the RSFSR. He studied under N.Feshin (1908-1912), in Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1913-1915) under L.Pasternak and A.Arkhipov. Participated in exhibitions since 1915. The author of the painting “Entrance of the Red Army into Krasnoyarsk”. The works of NMNikonov were exhibited in New York in 1923, in Venice, Zurich and Bern in 1930, in the Venice Biennale in 1932. The artist's works are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery and other museums.
