Wim de Haan - Abstracte compositie, gesigneerd en gedateerd 1956

Willem Jacobus de Haan was a Dutch painter, draftsman and sculptor. He was self-taught and painted non-representational art. He was a member of the artists' association Federation of Associations of Professional Visual Artists and Liga Nieuw Beelden. In 1953 he decided to devote himself full-time to painting. In his early years, his paintings were pre-war surrealistic, but his work soon developed into abstract expressionism. In the 1960s he was a member of the groups Europa and Ukwa, with whom he exhibited. In 1975 a retrospective exhibition about de Haan was held in the Stedelijk Museum.
