Adam WINTER (Darmstadt 1903 - Wiesbaden 1978)
Biography/ Education
Winter trained as a sculptor and ceramist in Würzburg and Munich. Then he left for Mainz, which was also his place of work. Winter was mainly concerned with Christian and religious imagery. The material he uses for his works is chamotte, terracotta. He became known for his so-called 'St.-Georg-Brauchgut'. Because of these statuettes of saints, Adam Winter received various commissions from Dutch churches in the 1930s.
