KG (Guus) de RUITER (1924-2000) lived and worked in his birthplace Rotterdam. Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam (1940-1945). From 1947 to 1951 he works under the direction of Wally Elenbaas at the graphic studio 'Ons Huis'. Later the artists who worked here are called 'the Window Group'. He was primarily a painter, watercolourist, draftsman and graphic artist. His subjects were cityscapes, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He was also called 'painter of tranquility'. A soft dreaminess hangs over his works.
