Kees Terlouw (1890-1948)
Cornelis ('Kees') Terlouw was born in 1890 in Rotterdam and died in 1948 in France. The artist lived and worked in Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague. And from 1926 mainly in France. Mostly painted landscapes and forest views.
Kees Terlouw is actually a French painter, because he soon moved from the Netherlands to France, made a career there and eventually died there. As a result, many of the painter's French works are valued more highly in France than his Dutch ones are here.
