Louis Saalborn, actually Louis Alexander Abraham Zaalborn (Rotterdam, June 13, 1891 - Amsterdam, June 18, 1957) was a Dutch director, stage actor, painter and musician. He was a son of Alexander Zaalborn and Jeanette de Groot and moved in 1892 with his parents to Amsterdam. In 1910 he went to the Industrial School of the Society for the Working Stand and from 1911-1912 to the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He was one of the pioneers of abstract art. In 1916 he founded the artists' association De Anderen with Erich Wichmann and Theo van Doesburg and took part in exhibitions of De Onvangenen. On March 15, 1922 he married H_l
