Silkscreen titled 'The Star' with diamond dust. Diamond dust is a special printing technique that includes glitter in the lines, which gives a very special effect. It concerns actress Greta Garbo as Mata Hari, whom she played in the 1931 film of the same name.

The work is not signed or numbered, but is stamped on the back with the publisher Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, Inc., New York, as well as with the embossing stamp of the printer Rupert Jasen Smith, New York. These "printer proofs" were a reference for the actual printing, and were used for exhibitions and promotion of the series. This screen print was issued in addition to the edition of 200 pieces.

In Myths, a portfolio of 10 serigraphs from 1981, Warhol referred to the beginnings of cinema and the imaginary characters loved and recognized by millions around the world. Most of the images in Warhol's Myths series are drawn from old Hollywood movies or 1950s television, depicting the universal view of America's once enchanted and powerful past. Included in the series are characters that kids love such as Superman, Mickey Mouse and Santa Claus, as well as fictional characters such as Dracula, The Wicked Witch of the West, Uncle Sam and Mammy.
