    Information about the artist:
Bessel Kok (Ermelo, March 10, 1927 – Amsterdam, July 4, 1991), painter, draftsman, pastellist, collagist and etcher.
-Education: Academy of Visual Arts The Hague (1946-1950) and Académie des Beaux-Arts Paris (1951).
Bessel Kok lived and worked in Apeldoorn, Paris, the South of France and Amsterdam.
He made colorful pastel drawings and collages and had a fascination with technology and industries. He made atmospheric works about the relationship between man and machine in an expressionist, surrealist style.
Quote from the artist from 1988: “The strange thing about this fascination with technology is that I am not technical at all. Maybe I'm a little old-fashioned. I don't need all that progress. Technology scares me. Maybe I'll portray that.”
