Charles Grips - Landschap met boerderijtjes

Beautiful elongated watercolor of a landscape with farms near Vught by Charles Grips (1907-1955). † Watercolor and pencil. † Grips was born into an artist family, he was a son of the painter Frits Grips and Hendrika Maria Font Freide. He married Johanna Maria Petronella Ghijben. Grips was educated at the Royal School for Useful and Visual Arts in 's-Hertogenbosch and was a student of André Verhorst, Piet Slager Jr. and August Falise. He was active as a painter and sculptor and mainly made Christian religious work, including church paintings, altar crosses and baptismal fonts. He also designed for the Atelier St. Joris in Beesel and made a number of war memorials after the Second World War.
