3 Large hardboard printing plates / blocks by the Dutch artist Fon Klement (1930-2000).
Method: Fon Klement made a design drawing on a hardboard plate and processed the hardboard plate with a wood carving gouge. The higher parts of the plate were provided with printing ink, after which the plate went through the printing press and the ink was printed on a sheet of paper. Usually the artist used 3 different printing plates for 3 printing passes in different colours.
The 3 printing plates offered here have never been printed by Fon Klement. He probably wasn't done cutting / processing the plates yet….

Information about the artist:
Alfons ('Fon') Klemen t born November 10, 1930 in Amsterdam, died October 8, 2000 in Amsterdam, was a Dutch graphic artist, woodcarver, painter, draftsman, wall painter, sculptor and musician.
-Education: Self-taught.
-Fon Klement lived and worked in Amsterdam and France.
-After a short period in which Fon Klement acquired prestige as a figurative painter and woodcarver, the first multicolor graphic sheets were created in 1960 using the technique so typical of him, 'the letterpress hardboard cut'. Recognizable form elements gradually gave way to more abstract motifs in sober colours.
-Fon Klement made study trips to France and Sweden and participated in exhibitions at home and abroad, including the exhibition “Prints today in the USA” with an overview of graphics by Dutch artists with whom he traveled through the United States for a long time.
In the eighties he became known for his colorful flower still lifes of poppies, irises and roses.
-Fon Klement was a member of several artists' associations, including the Hague's Pulchri Studio, Xylon and the 'Vereeniging tot Promotion der Grafische Kunsten 'De Grafische''.
-Prizes: In 1990 he was awarded the public prize at the Graphic Biennale “Grafiek nu” in Laren and in 1993 at the International Graphic Biennale in Maastricht. He was considered one of the most successful artists of his time.
