Frans NICOLAÏ (Domburg 1937-?) Frans Nicolaï grew up on the Zeeland coast. The sea has always attracted him, such as in The Hague where he followed his education at the (Royal) Academe for Visual Arts, and Friesland where he goes with his wife. At the beginning of his career he worked in the style of the Hague School and was inspired by Co Westerik. After a burnout a shift took place, in his abstract expressive landscapes there were no longer any people. Nicolaï painted in this style until the last years of his life. | |
