About the artist: Gé-Karel van der Sterren is a painter who seeks out figuration. Not in the (magical) realistic style, but with its own unique visual language and material-technical approach. His paintings can be described as exuberant and baroque. The colors burst from the canvas. As a subject he often paints enigmatic landscapes; scenes of doom and demise or fantasy images. Images that often evoke a sense of doom. In 2002 he had a solo exhibition at the Henry Urbach Gallery in New York. That is quite special: there are not many Dutch artists who have achieved that.
