Horst Egon Kalinowski
1924 -2013
Painter, graphic artist and sculptor in Düsseldorf

Horst Egon Kalinowski attended the Realgymnasium in Düsseldorf from 1934 to 1942. From 1945 to 1948 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and then stayed in Venice and Rome to study. From 1950 to 1952 he studied in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Jean Dewasne's "Atelier d'art abstract". He exhibited his abstract paintings for the first time in 1953 at the Arnaud Gallery in Paris. In 1958, collages, material pictures and picture shrines followed in the Daniel Cordier gallery, which, however, met with a lack of understanding.
From 1968 he taught at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, where he was appointed professor in 1972. In 1989 he retired. Horst Egon Kalinowski was a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin (West) from 1965 to 1992. In 1983 he worked as a guest of honor at the German Academy in Rome Villa Massimo. Horst Egon Kalinowski lives in Düsseldorf and Paris.
