" The Eindhoven painter Joep Königs loves to paint, that much is certain. " Thus began in March 2010 an article in the Eindovens Dagblad about Joep Königs (1958), a striking painter, and renowned in Eindhoven and Amsterdam.
This painting is characteristic of his work. Königs is a craftsman, a master of the transparent technique. He often painted 'his' women in unusual (mono) colors and almost always with a certain erotic tension. This work was made with great sensitivity and the woman was (at the time) undoubtedly one of his muses.

The original wooden frame deserves some attention. For example, the work must be fixed acid-free again on the back.

About the artist:
Joep Königs was born in 1958 in Geldrop. He has a difficult childhood and he leaves the parental home at an early age. He follows a visual arts course at the Academy of Industrial Design (1976-1980). There are times when he works like a man possessed, his work is exhibited at home and abroad, but for many established galleries his work is too ordinary...
In 2006 he obtained his bachelor of fine arts in education.

Königs not only likes to paint, he also likes women. A painting by him is not complete without a woman in it. Joep: "For me, happiness always has to do with a woman. But I also associate women with pain ."
Painting is very physical for Joep, something he does with his whole body. Königs paints and draws women (models) standing, lying, seen from behind, frontal, in short, in every possible way. As said: he usually does so accurately and with an innate talent for panache and movement.
