John ter Reehorst (naamsvariant: Carel Hubertus ter Reehorst) werd op 31 januari 1901 in Watergraafsmeer geboren en overleed op 5 september in Delden.
Ter Reehorst is autodidact en bekwaamde zich tijdens zijn leven zowel als schilder, tekenaar en pastellist.
Hij werkte op vele plaatsen al dan niet voor langere tijd (Amsterdam, Den Haag, Brussel, België i.h.a., Duitsland, Frankrijk, Noord-Afrka, Spanje, Neede en Parijs).
Zowel (winter)landschappen, zeegezichten, bloemen, non-figuratieve voorstellingen als stillevens zijn van hem bekend.
