About the artist:
Laetitia de Haas was born in Voorburg in 1948 as the daughter of artist Willy Belinfante. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, she continues to live and work in the capital. She makes oil paintings and color etchings in a recognizable, somewhat naive and still, figurative style. In 1986 she received the Prix Francois 1 for her extensive graphic work. Given the dreamy, idyllic atmosphere, it is not surprising that countless greeting cards of her oeuvre have been printed and are available on the internet. ' She knows how to discover the fascinating in the seemingly inconspicuous' , according to a striking characterization of a reviewer. Gardens and courtyards, nature designed by human hands, these are the beloved subjects of Laetitia de Haas. The remains of human activity, such as chairs, tables, tea utensils, suggest the presence of man. This creates a harmony of things. The work exudes a distinction and tranquility that we often lack in everyday life. It is this relaxed atmosphere that appeals to many.
