Information about the artist:
Leendert (Leo) de Jong (Rotterdam, August 6, 1931 - Axel (municipality of Terneuzen), August 30, 2019) was a Dutch painter, draftsman and graphic artist, who lived and worked in Rotterdam and painted in an abstract figurative style.
Leo de Jong, who grew up in Rotterdam, was destined by his parents to become a banker. He started drawing and painting as a self-taught artist around 1946. In 1955 he spent six months in Corsica in a boarding house with all kinds of artists, after which he finally chose art.
-Education: in Rotterdam he took lessons at the Academy of Visual Arts from 1959 to 1961 and he also took painting lessons at the Vrije Academie in The Hague.
After the academy he settled as a visual artist in Rotterdam in the Kralingen district.
In 1996 he moved to the Kleiwegkwartier in Rotterdam and in 2005 he moved to the province of Zeeland.
