Rob
Houdijk (1950) studeerde aan de Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten
te Amsterdam in de vrije schilderkunst. De boetseertechniek werd na
zijn academietijd weer opgepakt. Bronzen, zowel in groot formaat als
klein plastiek, vormen een integraal onderdeel van zijn werk, waarin
vooral mensen in hun omgeving en mens en dier in hun interactie
centraal staan. Rob Houdijk werkt in de traditionele technieken
(houtskool, pen en inkt, olieverf, pastel, aquarel, klei en was).
Ofschoon de figuratie altijd uitgangspunt blijft, is overal een
neiging tot licht abstraheren waarneembaar.
